Quality mental health care made accessible.
THE INITIAL CONSULTATION
Problem identification and treatment clarification
-
a one off meeting (50-60 mins) or go on for a few sessions.
-
With my expertise of being a clinical psychologist, this initial consultation is used to check if your concerns warrants a clinical diagnosis or not.
-
treatment recommendation - be it counselling, short term or long term psychotherapy, or in more severe cases a psychiatrist referral; will be recommended.
-
In addition to the aforesaid,Consultations can be therapeutic in themselves.
-
a mutual space to explore for a goodness of fit.
PRIVATE COUNSELING
A Happier, Healthier You
-
Less intensive than psychotherapy
-
scientifically proven techniques to tackle everyday problems like for example stress, work related issues, family issues, making career choices, or any other life decisions etc.
-
I remember reading this somewhere- “Keeping it simple, counselling tends to look at the problem ‘outside of me’ and psychotherapy tends to deal with the problem ‘inside of me’.
PSYCHOTHERAPY
Here For You
-
As mentioned already under the head- Private counselling, counselling and psychotherapy are not the same.
-
an intensive process that not only attends to the person's immediate symptoms, but has a focus on the primary underlying aspects of somebody''s personality structure that might contribute to the problem.
-
basically goes to the root of the problem, ie within yourself.
-
enables you achieve greater awareness, thus a deeper understanding and eventually empowers you with a choice over your symptoms.
-
There are different schools of psychotherapy ( according to a recent review- 400!).
-
My training as a Clinical Psychologist at NIMHANS, Bangalore, came with extensive training and experience all by itself. However, being really passionate about the field, I also chose to keep myself updated and learn newer forms of therapy in the last 8 years while I was parallely working.
-
That amounts to more than 10000 hours of hands on experience which gives an edge to the services i provide. I tend to individualize my therapy plans as per the unique need of my clients.
COUPLES THERAPY
A healthier 'us'
Living a life all on your own seems so stressful these days, and add a relationship to the picture. You get the drift.
Atleast that's how most people put it. A relationship, however should not be the source of added stress in fact it should be one of your stress busters!
People have forgotten how to relate to oneself and to another intimately, they are far more related to their gadgets ,their jobs, the images they have projected to others.
Relationships are hard work, but therapy can make the process easier for you and your partner.
I offer couple therapy for couples who want to enrich their marriages, who have issues with emotional and sexual intimacy, to couples who are having mild conflicts to major discord.
Despite the aforesaid, sometimes some relations just doesn't work due to irreconcilable differences. the process of separation is long painful, and often difficult to do alone. Coming to terms with the immense emotional pain , difficulty understanding why it is happening, initiating a conversation on separation, taking a decision, communicating it to others, to children if they are involved , handling the multiple social consequences can be hardy. In such cases I also help couples to mediate the process of separation and divorce in the healthiest manner possible.
PSYCHOTHERAPY FOR THERAPISTS
A space for the healer to heal and reflect
Therapists are often at the vicarious end of listening to painful trauma, and this has a definitive impact on their well being. In fact research proves that mental health professionals are often more prone to developing mental health concerns themselves than the regular population. I did an exploratory study myself on the same at NIMHANS during my training years and the results were shocking. Trainee mental health professionals were already showing signs of distress that the general population of their equivalent age range doesn't.
At the end of the day therapists are also human, with very human lives and concerns and require a greater deal of support and care, and reflective spaces for their own personal self and to grow in their therapist self.
Considering how hard a layman finds to come by a professional, its harder still to find a therapist for therapists.
I offer individual therapy by coupling the objective research I did and my own personal journey as a therapist, for trainees in the mental health and beginner therapists.
